Altar Servers

We aspire to have excellent altar servers at Christ The King. All servers are required to attend a comprehensive training program. Training sessions teach altar server functions and an understanding of what happens at Mass in relation to the servers' duties. There is also time devoted to learning the proper liturgical names of the sacred items used during the Mass, with the expectation that all servers will minister in a knowledgeable and reverent manner.
We participate in the Altar Server Award scheme of our Diocese of Corpus Christi.
EUCHARISTIC CROSS BEARER
To be eligible for Eucharistic Cross Bearer, a server should: have served for at least three years, must at least be in the ninth grade and must commit to serving through their senior year of high school.OUTSTANDING SERVER FOR THE LOCAL PARISH
Each Parish can yearly nominate one male and one female server who has given outstanding service over the past year. These servers are presented with a special plaque.
RECOGNITION FOR 10 YEARS OF SERVICE
Servers who have served 10 years are eligible to receive a purple cord presented by the bishop in recognition for their longstanding dedication to serving.
We also hold occasional social events to encourage fellowship amongst altar server families and to celebrate their ministry.
