CHILDREN The first catechists in any child’s life are the family members with whom he or she lives. What happens at home provides lessons for life. In the family, faith is shared as part of the unfolding of daily life. The home or “domestic church” provides a real place in which a child learns to live his or her faith as well as understanding it.
To assist parents in passing on the Catholic Faith & Way of Life to their children we offer Religious Education classes - on Wednesdays 6:30 - 7:45pm. Our program includes intellectual formation in the truths of the Catholic Faith in a way that fosters a personal relationship with Jesus and life as His disciple. We promote faith growth at home and participation in Church life. Our classes also prepare children to enter into the Sacramental Life of The Church. For more information on our programs visit our CCD webpage here.
YOUTH "The most effective catechetical programs for adolescents are integrated into a comprehensive program of pastoral ministry for youth that includes catechesis, community life, evangelization, justice and service, leadership development, pastoral care, and prayer and worship. Such programs aim to empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today; to draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith community; and to foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person." (National Directory for Catechesis, p. 201)
Our Youth Group meets on Sundays at 4:15pm for activities including Catechism, Fellowship, Prayer, Music, Community Service, Shared Meals, Games.........and more......All of this to help our youth mature into adult disciples of Jesus Christ, active in the Mission of The Catholic Church and living the Sacramental Life of Grace.
ADULTS Each year on Holy Saturday during the Easter Vigil, thousands of men and women are received into the Catholic Church in the United States. Parishes welcome these new members through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). Our RCIA group at CHRIST THE KING stresses this is not a program, but is a gradual process in which someone has a personal encounter with Jesus Christ and freely chooses to follow him in the faith of the Catholic Church. The group meets at 6pm on Thursdays. For more information visit our RCIA webpage here.
ADULT CATECHESIS - We also hold regular adult catechesis classes. Some are specialist classes for team members who help deliver faith formation in the parish. There are also additional ongoing faith formation classes for adults open to all parish members. For more information visit our ADULT CATECHESIS webpage here.
