For over 2000 years the Church has cared for the sick and provided spiritual nourishment for those unable to attend Mass due to infirmaties. At Christ The King, priests, sisters and lay volunteers visit the sick and homebound, bringing them the Sacraments of the Eucharist, Reconciliation and Anointing of the Sick. They assure them of the prayers of the community. Mass is celebrated weekly at Winsdor Nursing Home and visits to individual homes are also made.
A number of parishioners are specially commissioned as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EHMCs) for this ministry and to assist our priests at some Masses. As with all our Litugical Minsiters, they need a deep faith in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist and a desire to nurture this in others.
