In the early part of 1946, Bishop Ledvina aquired land for the purpose of organizing new parishes in the city of Corpus Christi. The church to be built on one of these sites became Christ The King. Father Cannon was appointed the first Pastor in July of 1946, and the first Mass was celebrated on October 13, 1946 in the auditorium of Travis Public School.
Within a year the parish family had increased in number and plans were drawn for the construction of permanent bulidings. On October 13 1947 ground was broken for the construction of a church and a school to be located at 1625 Arlington Drive. The church, a school and a convent were dedicated on July 25 1948. As the community grew, so did the need for a bigger house of worship. Ground was broken on Jan 31 1959. The result of the hard work of the pastor, the Men's Club and the Altar Society. The dedication took place on August 9 1959. Since then there have been different Diocesan Pastors. In 1981 Bishop Drury entrusted the parish to the Trinitarian Order, whose priests served the parish through till 2002. Diocesan priests once again took over the spiritual leadership of the Parish. In 2013 Bishop Michael Mulvey invited the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity to serve at Christ The King.
